Review: Super Robot Chogokin HyoRyu, EnRyu & Big Order Room 02
Continuing GaoGaiGar week is Super Robot Chogokin HyoRyu and Enryu. This 2-pack comes with the second section of the 3G Big Order Room. Here is the review.
HyoRyu and EnRyu
Figure: Let’s preface this review by saying that these twins are nearly identical except for the mirrored chest panels and helmets. Speaking of chest panels, they don’t open up to simulate the Chest Thriller and Chest Warmer attacks. First of all, the articulation is as good as it gets. I don’t think I noticed any poses I couldn’t pull off. The die-cast knees and elbows are a nice touch, I just don’t know if the tightness will hold up. The bigger concern, however, is with the paint job. Don’t get me wrong, I like the flat look… but because ChoRyuJin uses metallic paint, I want these to match. Either way, the white faces are criminal. These are not only difficult to photograph, they just look gummy.
Accessories: Not only do you get two figures, but there are a good amount of accessories as well. EnRyu gets his Mirror Shield, this comes with two connecting points: one for his hands and another for his back. The twins also get one alternate set of screaming faces. I just ask… where is the smiling one? Also included is the Freezing Gun and the Melting Gun; standard stuff. The only issue then, is really with the Ul-Tech Rifles. They look great as backpack fodder… but that’s all they really do. They don’t extend, and they definitely cannot be used as tonfas; useless. As a bonus, there are two Epoxy Pencil Guns. Lastly, there are a few sets of hands but the sprawled hands are the best. These have a different wrist-joint connection so they can actually tilt completely. I wish other hands had this, and I really want thumbs up hands. The Big Order Room 02 set is just the standard panels with nothing else added to it. Meh
Overall: Though HyoRyu and EnRyu aren’t consistent with the previously released SRC ChoRyuJin, they’re still damn awesome. Every GaoGaiGar collection should have this set; cause I mean… why not?
