iGear‘s Mini Warriors line includes MW-05 Cogz and MW-08 Bushwhacker. Here are the reviews.
iGear Mini Warriors Cogz
Cogz: Up first is Cogz, this is iGear’s answer to a Classics version of Gears. In truck mode, I can’t say that I have any problems. That really isn’t saying much because it’s difficult to screw up a boxy compact truck. It’s got moving wheels, what more can I ask for? Transforming the truck into robot mode and back is a little on the difficult side. Why? I think it’s because of how hard the plastic is. The plastic is incredibly sturdy. In robot mode, Cogz kinda sorta does a decent job. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of cool elements here; the rotating battle mask/face is my favorite feature. There are areas on the robot that look nicely sculpted for something that was originally planned out to be an inch tall figure. The rocket booster backpack is also a nice touch. It’s just that the articulation sucks… hard. The shoulders are the worst aspect about this figure, and I’d go so far as to say that I’d gladly replace this figure with the next best thing because of them. It just makes the entire figure look off. Like Hench and UFO before, Cogz too is just a shade or two off in color. Overall, this figure should only be considered if you MUST scratch that 84 cast itch.
Bushwhacker: Paired with Cogz, Bushwhacker is iGear’s iteration of Outback. Since this is a simple repaint/remold of Hench, I’ll only focus on the differences. The biggest difference is mainly the color. First of all, it’s all wrong. Outback was a tan colored jeep, this is definitely bone white. Is this a bad thing? Yes, if you want this to be your Classics Outback. No, if that doesn’t matter. Ultimately the color scheme doesn’t look so bad on this mold. The white body and butterscotch torso compliments well with each other. The next bit is the head. I love the head mold as well as the battle mask. While other figures used the original G1 toy as inspiration for the battle mask, the original Outback had a regular face. Bushwhacker’s alternate head is a quaint original design. Lastly, the gun that comes with this figure is also new. I don’t know about you, but my gun could not fit into Bushwhacker’s hands. I had to sand the handle down, and even then it was too tight of a fit. Overall, I’d say that it’s a good figure… and I dare say that I like it better than Cogz.
